View fullsize Ms. Jackson’s class took a field trip to study the effect of climate change on sugar maple seedlings… “This was a collaboration with the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest and the Society for Protection of NH Forests. We participated in collecting leaf litter and seeds on the lower slopes of Monadnock as part of a Sugar Maple seedling viability study. Sugar maples are sensitive to changes in calcium levels in the soil and it is estimated that 50% of soil calcium levels have been leached from New Hampshire soils since the beginning of the industrial revolution as a direct result of acid rain. This combined with the effect of climate change and increased freezing and thawing of the roots have put this important species at risk.”

Currently, 80% of the Class of 2022 have applied to at least one college or university and 90 letters of recommendation have been submitted in support of student applications. We’re so proud of our seniors!
View fullsize Today, in Ms. Grant’s chemistry class! Students wrote their own procedures to conduct a qualitative analysis of a chemical solution. By performing a series of chemical reactions and looking for certain products, they were able to identify the ions present in an unknown solution! 🧪
